Happy Birthday Lady Liberty!

125 Years ago today the French gift of what has become generally known as "The Statue of Liberty" was completed on Bedloe's island in the harbor of New York City.

I visited NYC a few years ago and shot quite a few shots.  A first I was disappointed that the sky was overcast, but then I realized that it reflected the mood of the world, and that the light of liberty still shine even when the sky is dim.

For the story of what it took to get her built and set in place, go to this webpage.

Happy birthday Lady Liberty!

May your light continue to shine for generations to come.
